You are in: MoneyScotland Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) Who can we help?

Who can we help?

DAS is designed to help individuals or sole traders who owe more than one debt. It also helps individuals or companies (creditors) to recover debts they are due.

What is a debtor?*

A debtor is an individual or sole trader who owes money to another person or company (the creditor).

What is a creditor?*

A creditor is an individual or a company that is owed money by another person or sole trader (the debtor).

You can only apply for a debt payment programme under DAS if:

  • You live in Scotland (it doesn't matter where your creditors are based).
  • You have more than one debt.
  • You have some money left over once you've paid your essential expenses.

You cannot apply if you have been declared bankrupt or signed a trust deed.

DAS isn't the right path for everyone, but it should work for you if you are employed or self-employed.
